This season Rezonance Baroque Ensemble is taking over the Danforth and we encourage you to enjoy good food from local Danforth restaurants after hearing our lovely baroque music – so we thought we would recommend some restaurants in the area that we know are delicious.
Before or after you take in our next show, Liftoff, (Oct 29, 2pm, 361 Danforth Ave) why not treat yourself to good food and drinks?
Danforth restaurants we have heard good things about:
Athens Pastries and Café
509 Danforth Ave
Athen’s original location and home is on the Danforth. This is one of the tastiest and most authentic of the Danforth restaurants, serving delicious snacks and coffee - perfect for a pre concert craving . Making your mouth water since 1978 the restaurants boasts they are “dedicated to providing you with an authentic Greek experience on every visit”. We recommend trying the honey balls!
Off the Hook Gourmet Co
749 Broadview Ave
Off the Hook has been satisfying the cravings of Fish and Chip enthusiasts since it opened in 2011. Becoming everyone's favourite Danforth restaurants, Off the Hook has something gourmet for more than fish lovers with a menu that includes fish, burgers, poutine and even fried chocolate bars. The website boasts “All fish are sustainable and brought in fresh to ensure the highest quality of flavour.”
The atmosphere is a sort of steam punk version of old school diners. I would give a recommendation but the menu is subject to change for how fresh the ingredients they use are – you will just have to try everything on the menu!
(Pssst: we hear they can make things gluten free!)
Pizzeria Libretto Danforth
550 Danforth Ave.
This is a mouth watering choice for good Italian food on the Danforth. Beware that the location is not the most exciting of the Danforth restaurants however it is better to have amazing food and be among good people right? The website boasts Pizzeria Libretto as “relaxed and welcoming, filled with families, friends and laughter.” Duck Confit is our recommendation – and our mouths are already watering thinking about it.
Pantheon on the Danforth
407 Danforth Ave
A staple of Danforth restaurants this is a must try. The location can hold a lot of people, they have excellent staff and more than one person has recommended the baked calamari. If you are looking for a delicious Greek meal with all the staples then look no further. Generous portions, friendly and professional staff!
Simone’s Caribbean Restaurant
596 Danforth Avenue
Visit Simone’s if you are looking for authentic Caribbean cuisine. This place comes highly recommended – mainly for the summer patio and surprises on the menu. Don’t miss the Jerk Chicken and Rotis. Locals love this place, visitors love this place and soon we know you will love Somone’s too!
193 Danforth Avenue
You will find great beer and food at Factory Girl. They stand out from other Danforth restaurants because of their delicious cuisine mixed with excellent service. Their website describes them best:
“Factory Girl is named after a Rolling Stones song. Factory Girl is a Gastropub with exceptional food served in a great atmosphere. Factory Girl has quickly become a favourite place to eat on The Danforth.”
We have heard good things about the meatballs and the pizza. Mmmm pizza.
